SIMU project presented at ICSI-CCI Conference in China

This June the ICSI-CCI 2015 (www.ic-si.org) took place in in Beijing at Beijing International Convention Center (BICC). It was the sixth conference on „Swarm Intelligence“ and second on „Computational Intelligence“. 52 countries applied with over 100 contributions. DECOIT was invited to present research results.

The term „Swarm Intelligence“ means collective behavior in decentral, self-organizing systems. The concept deals with implementation of distributed artificial intelligence and came into being in the area of roboter systems in 1989. Main goal is to model complex intermapped software agent systems that function as swarm models to be found in nature (e.g. ants and bees). Many times the result is new algorithms that can be used to optimize load distribution or clustered configurations of server systems.

DECOIT presented meta data from the ESUKOM and SIMU project. Within these projects a whole data model was newly developed to achieve homogenization of different log information and to cover diverse security scenarios by means of the IF map protocol. The term "Swarm Intelligence" also applies here as the aggregation of all log information allows deeper insight into IT security of a company. That way, all distributed security systems are aggregated and threats can early be recognized and eliminated. The presentation included results generated within five years of research conducted by DECOIT and partners.

The conference revealed a totally different point of view on distributed IT systems although security aspects were not covered sufficiently. As the topic of IT security is still very young in this environment; surely; this will be different in future. To promote this change DECOIT contributed its presententation in the area of IT security which successfully lead to discussions.
