7th project meeting took place at DECOIT GmbH in Bremen

The 7th project meeting of the SIMU research project took place March 24, 2015 at new DECOIT facilities at the Technology Park of the University Bremen. The new meeting room was inaugurated by all project partners. Agenda topics were the current development status, the upcoming RSA conference in the U.S. as well as work package reports.

The third work package has almost been finalized. Only the description of metadata and the report need to be completed. Since the beginning of this year all project partners have worked on the report of the fourth work package which documents all development steps. The fourth work package report is going to be finished after development completion. At the same time evaluations take place forming the first version of the fifth work package. Until now this package includes the analysis of different SIEM vendors which were tested. In the future own test reports will be added. Overall, the project is perfectly on time.

Different conferences are planned in order to publish project results and discuss solutions with other researchers. Research papers were submitted to the conferences IC-SI (Peking, China), D.A.CH Security (Bonn, Germany) und IDACCS (Warsaw, Polen). DECOIT GmbH already presented its SIEM projects (SIMU and iMonitor) at CeBIT 2015. Both met with a positive response. Meanwhile, SIEM solutions and products are in demand by larger medium-sized enterprises and do not need to be explained anymore. The SIMU project was also presented at the RSA conference April 20, 2015. DECOIT GmbH and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Hanover in cooperation with Pulse Secure showed two demonstrators for the Trusted Computing Group (TCG). Within this scope, DECOIT GmbH presented the new version of its smartphone app "DECOmap for Android" as well as its new SIEM-GUI front-end which lists all events and tickets. Die University of Hanover presented its detection engine for anamoly recognition, and VisITMeta for metadata visualization.

The project meeting was very effective and constructive. All partners presented their development results and announced progress. During the following few weeks the remaining project time will be scheduled. Previous results already attracted the attention of several SIEM vendors. Their remarks will be incorporated into the development.
